Dedicated to the health and wellness of people throughout their entire lives, Lauren McGinley has been a Professional Doula for two years, and holds the position of Whole Health Coordinator at New Generation Inc., a shelter that houses and empowers women who are pregnant and/or a parent with child under the age of 1year. She is also actively pursuing her certification as a Professional Midwife.
Lauren believes that pregnancy and childbirth is the most important time in a woman’s life. During the birth of her son, Indigo and her experience attending to woman during their birthing process, she feels she has the gift to uphold the importance of providing a woman with respect and power during this time. She clearly recognizes the amazing impact this respect can make on the woman during her child’s birth and also on the life of her child. Through her job at New Generation Inc., she is able to provide her knowledge and skills for women and children, helping to enhance their experience through the journey of pregnancy, birth, and infancy.
Ms. McGinley is specifically drawn to the Liddle Kidz Foundation overseas outreach to children in Vietnam, as she believes childbirth and pregnancy has been looked over and forgotten, and in turn, so has touch. She believes touch is such an elemental need, and that no child, should go through life starving for such a thing, or ever feel untouchable.
Why do you feel you would be an asset to the Liddle Kidz Foundation volunteer team?
“I have a true pull inside of me to help and nurture. I feel for both parties that we are going to help, the children and the caregivers. I know what it is like to be an over worked and undereducated caregiver to a specific population and I know the stress that is felt on that end. I would love to bring support to both the children and their caregivers.”
Why would you like to participate in this outreach event?
“I would love the opportunity to learn this type of outreach work. I truly believe in the power of touch and want to be a part of bringing that power to children that need it and the caregivers that care for them!”
There are millions of infants and children worldwide who are struggling to live to their fullest potential. Would you like an opportunity to bring nurturing touch and pediatric massage to orphaned and displaced children around the globe?
Do you wish to share your skills with children who are affected by Cerebral Palsy, AIDS/HIV, landmines, Agent Orange, developmental disabilities, genetic birth defects, mental and emotional trauma?
Just ask yourself . . . can one person make a difference?
Take this moment to make a difference in the life of a child.
